It was great seeing everyone that was able to make it to the party at Cat's place last night. Again, my thanks go out to Cat for having two weekends set aside for us due to last weekends weather. We had a great turn out with some new faces and some faces we haven't seen in a while come and join us.
Joining us for the first time was Rachel Grillot. Anthony Lipsey and I met her at our work and found out she was a longtime Disney fan. We hope she will join us again real soon.
Back again after a far too long of an absence was Ricardo! Ricardo has been incredibly busy with his many businesess as a decorator, wedding and event planner and his volunteer work with the Miss Texas pagent.
We were all disapointed to find out that Heather and her family are going to be moving to Colorado. Heather has been such a great member of our club family and of course she will continue to be one but I know I speak for everyone when I say that we will miss seeing her at our parties each month. Thank you Heather for all of your hard work as our hospitality director, desigining our website, and the postcards each month. We'll miss you!!
Upcoming Parties March 25 - @ 7:00 pm - our place(Anthony, Patrice and Gracie) - We decided to have a movie night of one of the classic Disney films...GUS! When I found out that Don Knotts passed away this weekend i thought this would be a fitting tribute. ALSO, we'll be taking nominations for the next round of board members. If anyone has ever thought you'd like to take more of an active role in the club this would be a great chance.
April 29 - 6 or 7 pm - location to be announced. Big News.....Trace has been talking with George, the Disney tatoo guy and he has graciously agreed to be a special guest at our party. Many of you may have seen George at the park or at conventions. His body is covered with tatoos of disney characters, attractions, cast members. He's also a professional magician so he will be performing his act of us as well as speaking on his unique way of showing his interest in Disney.
Just a few of the highlights from last night... During the "What's New" portion of the meeting we discussed Anthony and Jen Lipsey's recent trip to Walt Disney World and their chance to ride Expedition Everest during a soft opening. We talked about the recent 'welcome home' to Oswald The Lucky Rabbit. For more info on that check out this article from jimhillmedia.com
As well as, John Lasseter's recent naming as the Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Co. For more info...
Lisa and John Allison brought along some fun pictures of Light Magic...or Light "Tragic" as it has been called by some. Trace shared some of his really cool paintings of Disney characters that he has done over the years.
I shared some release dates of Disney DVD's and Theatrical releases which can all be found here... DVD list Theatrical
That's just some of the grooviness that happened last night, I hope to see you all at our next meeting!

Show and Tell: Nancy, in keeping with the Flowers and Trees theme brought a beautiful Vernon Kilns 1940's bowl designed by Walt Disney. The pattern of the plate is called "Flower Ballet". Vernon Kilns was an amazing California producer of dinnerware and art pottery. In addition to a great in house design staff, Vernon Kilns also contracted with nationally known artists such as Walt Disney, Don Blanding and Rockwell Kent.
